Biography

As a child growing up, my eyes were always drawn to beautiful things, something that is evident in the subject matter that I choose to photograph. Fashion photography, when done well, is an art that can turn a model and a piece of clothing into an arresting piece of work. This photographic genre is an approach that gives viewers an opportunity to experience something in an idealized situation. While photographing I believe that using a model and a piece of clothing, bold lighting and a dynamic and relevant location, creates an interpretation of a “beautiful thing.”

My images present a rich array of styles, and make note of the slightest details. While always on the lookout for dramatic locations, I photograph environments that will add a vivid arrangement of color, and an intensity that will further contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of my finished product. Composing vibrant and distinct moments, I offer my portrayal of the ever–changing and ever–flourishing expression that is fashion.

Raised in the small town of Chamberlain, South Dakota, and specializing in fashion and portraiture photography, Gunderson trained at Bethel University and The Art Institutes International Minnesota.
